Willow charcoal burned at high temperature is a surprisingly beautiful black with a bluish tint. The dry sound like metal is proof of high quality. The movement on the paper is also impeccable. If you draw with this charcoal, you will be very satisfied with the plaster statue.
The raw material used is willow (Goriyanagi) trees carefully grown in the garden of a charcoal craftsman living in Kanagawa. Willow is very soft and produces a deep black color with a bluish tint, allowing for a smooth drawing experience that seems to be absorbed into the paper, and it is characterized by a wide range of expression, such as the ability to create and blur shading without damaging the surface. From growing the logs, a single piece of charcoal is born through an incredibly daunting process. A single piece of charcoal is filled with the craftsman's thoughts, and the foundation of craftsmanship is aesthetic sense and love. This is what makes it so different from mass-produced products.
